Romy got here first pony, Bimbo, when she was 1,5 years old. After the ponies Romy began to ride on horses when she was 14 years old. Some of the horses she entered dressage competitions which are: Zamorijke, Palermo and Patron. With Interpol and the stallion Lest Best she competed on the Junior level. On her 15th Romy became member of the Dutch Junior B-team. Romy is in her third year as Young Rider now. She rides her father’s former Grand Prix horse Madorijke. They make a better combination by the day and the results are improving. Last year they became fourth at CHIO Rotterdam, they won the Young Riders Festival in Hagen (Germany) and the CHIO qualification match in Uden. In the final rankings of the CHIO Cup she became runner-up. The combination is now member of the Dutch Young Rider B-team and have already scored two results to qualify for the Dutch Young Rider (A-team). Unfortunately the season ended early due to an injury of Madorijke. The recovery looks very promising and in the coming winter seasons they will hopefully be back again.
Romy just graduated from the grammar-school and will start the Masterclass in Deurne. The aim is to get her instructors license in two years from now, to broaden her view and knowledge and make horse sports her profession. On this moment Romy trains Madorijke and Patron with great enthusiasm and will re-enter competitions with these horse sons. A dream for her is to get great results and the chance of entering major competitions. The way of training the horses gives a lot of satisfaction for her.
The excellent collaboration with her parents pays out as the horses are as fit as a fiddle and look strong and relaxed. This is what they believe in and train for.
